About Us
Bob and Marilyn Zieg cared for Bob’s mother in an assisted living setting for seven years. It was exciting and amazing to see her quality of life improve as some of the routine stresses of life were removed and Bob and Marilyn assumed those duties, such as meal preparation, housekeeping, financial worries, medication management and doctor’s appointments.
In 1997 the Lord fulfilled a desire of Bob and Marilyn’s to start an assisted living facility and help others just as they had helped Bob’s mother. Construction began in 1998 for !LinnWood Place.
In 2004, renovations to another building on the property were started to create !LinnWood Home Plus. This facility offers supervised nursing care for those who can no longer remain in an assited living setting. !LinnWood Home Plus opened in January of 2005.
In August of 2006, Ken Hartle and his business partner R. Dennis Casey purchased !LinnWood Place and !LinnWood Home Plus from Bob and Marilyn. Ken and Dennis have been in a personal service business for many years. Ken’s interests in helping others led him to assisted living and he received his Kansas operator’s certificate in 2005. It is their desire to maintain the level of care and comfort that the Zieg’s have provided over the years.
In July, 2007 Ken and Dennis purchased Deer Park Senior Group Homes in nearby Meriden, KS.
Ken is a certified nurse aide. He lives in Topeka. Dennis lives in Olean, NY and maintains their other business, Casey, Halwig & Hartle.
Marilyn Zieg remains an integral part of !LinnWood place. Bob passed away very unexpectedly on April 30, 2007 and is sadly missed by all of the residents and staff. Marilyn is a Registered Nurse and is the director of nursing for both !LinnWood Place and !LinnWood Home Plus and Deer Park Senior Group Homes.
LinnWood Place and !LinnWood Home Plus employs about twenty full and part time qualified and caring employees including LPN’s, CMA’s, CNA’s and support staff.
